This article will discuss in detail USB Type C and its benefits. Let’s get started right away:
USB Type C
USB-C, also known as USB Type C, is a 24-pin USB cable that replaces USB Type B or USB Type-A connectors. It was released by USB-IF in August 2014. It promises a bright future and will eventually replace all USB cables.
It is widely used in many applications, including Desktop Pc/Server/Server, Smartphones Tablets Mobile, PowerBank, and DockerStation. Wall Output, Printers Camera, Scanners. A/V switches.
While there are many devices still using USB Type B/USB Type C, USB Type C will certainly be the dominant technology in the future.
USB Type C Offers Many Benefits
USB Type C has many benefits over USB Type A or USB Type. These are the following:
- Reversible
The USB plug can be reversible. This is one of the biggest improvements to USB Type C. A USB Type C cable is available with a USB Type C plug on both ends. This makes it much easier to connect the USB Type C cable. This makes USB Type C more convenient than the previous USB Connector designs.
- Symmetrical
The USB Type C connector can be plugged into either side of the symmetric shape. The USB Type C connector can be flipped upside down to connect to the USB Type C ports. This will allow for faster device connections than with previous USB Type A or USB Type B ports.
- Speed
USB Type C is based on the USB 3.1 standard and has a speed of 5 Gbps at its start. This can be increased to 40 Gbps by Thunderbolt3 using USB-C cable cables.
But, USB Type C doesn’t determine the USB’s speed.
USB standards such as USB 2.0, USB 3.0, or USB 3.1 are the key to speed. The USB Type C connector is usually found in devices with high data transfer rates such as the USB 3.1 or the USB 3.0 standards.
USB Type C allows for high-performance connections up to 10 Gbps. However connecting devices must support it.
You can send a 4K video from a USB-C port.
- Powerful
USB Type C connectors can produce up to 100 Watts at 20 V, 5A. This is sufficient power to power your devices as they were created for power transfer and data driving. This figure is much higher than that of USB Type-A, and USB Type-B. The USB Type C power is capable of charging your laptop or power bank.
A USB Type C port will allow your phone to charge very quickly because of the high power supply from the port.
- Durable
USB Type C is claimed to have a longer lifespan than USB Types A, B, and C. USB Type-A is capable of withstanding at least 1500 times for insertion and deletion. USB Type C is capable of withstanding 10000 insertions and removal cycles.
Also, in USB Type B and USB Type-A, a leaf-spring is located in the device’s (laptop/monitor/tablet) jack, and when you connect and disconnect the USB cable from the port, more USB Type ports of expensive devices are stressed. In USB Type C, however, the USB port becomes a problem because the USB cable is more stressed than the USB port on the device. Therefore, the cheaper cable will fail than the more costly components such as smartphones and laptops.
- Compatibility
USB Type C was intended originally to be a universal solution. USB Type C can be used in different configurations to implement third-party interfaces. USB Type C can be used with adapters to enable compatibility with other connectors, such as HDMI and DisplayPort, MHL, and even D-Sub. DisplayPort Alternate Mode supports USB Type C. USB Type C cables can deliver Ultra HD 4K video to USB-C or HDMI monitors.
